Tools

This page lists all the tools we currently use within our development team. If you want to use, or are already using, something that is not in the list. Please create a PR for this page and add the tool you are missing so we can discuss it.

Code editors

As a developer at UTURN, you are free to use any editor you want, as long as it can comply with the set guidelines for our projects. Currently, we use Visual Studio Code and Jetbrains products. If you need a license for a Jetbrains product, send a request to your manager.

Code Quality

Nexturn uses SonarCloud.

BE uses SonarCloud & Checkstyle.

Version Control

At this time, we use GitHub. The backend maintains a legacy mirror on Gitlab (VPN required), solely for deploying to our legacy TransIP environment.

Communication

Online communication between developers and teams is done via Slack. The most important channels for development are:

Task management

Tasks are managed by the Development and Product department and both are responsible for a creating and maintaining the tasks and their status. For this, we use Jira. Please note that the Data team uses Clickup and other departments Trello.

Documentation

For describing our stack, tools, processes, guidelines, rules, and any other tech/dev related docs we use these pages; the Devdocs. You can edit these via the GitHub repository devdocs. For all our other documentation needs, we use Confluence.

Design

As the development department, we are responsible for the UI and UX of our products. For this, we use Figma.
